Product Benefits

Why Choose Urea N46% Granular Fertilizer?

Urea fertilizer (46-0-0) is the world's most widely used nitrogen fertilizer, accounting for over 50% of global nitrogen fertilizer consumption. Its superior nitrogen content, safety profile, and cost efficiency make it the preferred nitrogen source for commercial agriculture across all growing regions.

Highest nitrogen content of any solid fertilizer

At 46% nitrogen, urea delivers more than double the nitrogen per metric ton compared to ammonium sulfate (21%) and significantly more than ammonium nitrate (34%). This translates to lower freight, storage, and handling cost per unit of nitrogen applied.

Safe to transport and store internationally

Unlike ammonium nitrate, urea poses minimal fire or explosion hazard. It is classified as non-hazardous under international shipping regulations — simplifying port handling, customs procedures, and cargo insurance for bulk importers.

Compatible with most NPK blending programs

Granular urea mixes readily with MOP (potassium chloride), superphosphate, and other granular fertilizers to produce custom NPK blends. It is the nitrogen backbone of virtually every bulk blending operation worldwide.

Effective across all major commercial crops

From rice, wheat, maize, and sugarcane to cotton, vegetables, fruits, and plantations — urea N46% is the universal nitrogen source for virtually every commercial crop in tropical, subtropical, and temperate regions.

Free-flowing, anti-caking granular form

Our granular urea is treated with an anti-caking agent ensuring free-flowing properties throughout storage and handling. Consistent 1–4mm granule size ensures compatibility with all standard mechanical spreading equipment.

100% free from harmful substances

Certified non-radioactive, odourless, and free from harmful substances. Biuret content held at 1.0% maximum — safe for all agricultural applications including foliar spraying when diluted appropriately.

Urea vs. Other Nitrogen Fertilizers

Urea consistently delivers the lowest cost per unit of nitrogen of any solid fertilizer available on the global market:

FertilizerN%Cost/MT NSafety
Urea 46-0-046%Lowest ✓Low hazard
Amm. Nitrate 34-0-034%ModerateRegulated
Amm. Sulfate 21-0-021%HigherLow hazard
Calcium Nitrate 15.515.5%HighestLow hazard

Key quality parameters for importers

Always verify: N% ≥46%, biuret ≤1.0%, moisture ≤0.5%, granule size 1–4mm. Request SGS or Intertek pre-shipment inspection — Gro Export Ltda facilitates this at the loading port for every contracted order.

Application Guide

How to Apply Urea N46% Granular Fertilizer

Best practices for applying granular urea across different cropping systems, soil types, and irrigation methods for maximum nitrogen use efficiency.

🌱

Broadcast and incorporate

Spread urea evenly over the soil surface and incorporate immediately — or irrigate with at least 6mm within 24 hours. Prevents ammonia volatilization losses that occur when urea is left on warm, moist soil surfaces.

🌾

Band application

Apply urea in bands at least 5cm from seed rows to prevent ammonia toxicity to germinating seedlings. Band placement reduces volatilization and improves nitrogen use efficiency in coarse or fast-draining soils.

💧

Fertigation (drip / pivot)

Dissolve granular urea in the irrigation water tank before injection. Fully soluble with no residue. Ideal for drip systems, centre-pivot irrigation, and micro-sprinkler applications on all crops.

🌿

Foliar spray (diluted)

Dissolve low-biuret urea (≤1%) in water at 0.5–2% concentration for foliar application. Provides rapid nitrogen uptake through leaf tissue. Most effective on cereals and horticultural crops during active growth.

🌲

Plantation top-dressing

Top-dress around the canopy drip-line of oil palm, rubber, tea, and fruit trees. Apply before anticipated rainfall for best results. Avoid placement close to the trunk to prevent stem burn.

⚗️

NPK blending

Granular urea blends readily with superphosphate (SSP/TSP), MOP (KCl), and micronutrients to produce custom NPK formulations. Ensure similar granule sizes to minimise segregation during blending and spreading.

⚠️ Important application notes

Do not apply urea on the soil surface without irrigation or rainfall within 24–48 hours — nitrogen losses from ammonia volatilization can reach 30–50% in hot, alkaline, or high-humidity conditions. Do not mix dry urea with superphosphate before application — the combination produces a sticky, difficult-to-spread mixture. Mix immediately before application only.

💡 Nitrogen use efficiency tips

Split applications (two or three smaller doses through the growing season) significantly improve nitrogen use efficiency compared to single large applications. For paddy rice, broadcast urea into standing water 7–10 days after transplanting when plants are established. On slopes, incorporate urea to prevent surface runoff losses during heavy rain.
